The understanding regarding contemporary scientific trends and technologies, related to the tourist offer worldwide, were some of the goals of the representatives of UTMS and FTS Travel Tourism Fair in Berlin.

This year the largest world tourism fair ITB was held in Berlin from 05.03 to 10.03.2013. The representatives of UTMS, this time were accompanied by the staff of FTS Travel (travel agency that operates within the university).

Why is especially important this manifestation for our institution?

1. Building network within the institutions which field is in the tourism industry. One of the most important reason is the attendance of almost all countries in the world, regions, destinations, tour operators, travel agencies, airline companies, companies for new technologies, new software’s, universities, colleges or high schools, etc.. Particularly working in the field of scientific research of the world tourism, our University has significant benefit with attendance the numerous conferences, seminars, lectures, which are held among the elite of the academic structures and the representatives of the most famous growing industries, as well. Working in the academic and scientific area, for us as the University of Tourism and management and for our academic staff this was one of the greatest opportunities to attend at the fair where the concentration of science and practice related to tourism are at the one point.

2. As an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization UNWTO, for UTMS the fair in Berlin was one of the opportunity to meet the colleagues and friends from this organization, such as the old friends from other countries and companies.

3. We use this remarkable opportunity for establishing new contacts for the future cooperation. In addition, we can mention our visit of the Zambia’s stands, our talks with the ambassador of Zambia in Germany H.E. Mr. Bvalija Chiti, who is also authorized representative for Macedonia as well. At this point of our conversation, we made an agreement during his next stay in Macedonia to visit our University as well.

The most significant event at this International fair was the opening ceremony and the attendance of the German Chancellor Mrs. Angela Merkel.

The representatives of FTS Travel, were focused mostly on building network and principal cooperative arrangements with tour operators and travel agencies from many countries, as well as gaining knowledge regarding news’s and events in the world of tourism. They made some conversations with several officials from the countries of the Balkan’s, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and others. For the representatives of the FTS Travel were primary interesting the presentations of the new technologies in the tourism business, new software’s, which are the future tourism industry. The staff of FTS Travel had conversations with several companies in the way of establishing cooperation among FTS and the world famous travel agencies such as about the possibility for using some of their programs related to the tourist arrangements. FTS Travel is following the way of successful example from the University of Tourism and management, and is trying to keep pace with the new worldwide.
